Honington Village:
Stephen Read (Vice Chair) Robin Howe David Plampin Debbie Cram (1 vacancy) Clerk - Lynn Plampin |
Honington Station:
Rob Williams (Chair) Mark Jacklin Sapiston: Ian Patterson-Parker Sue Jay |
The PC meets on the second Monday of alternate months in the Village Hall at 7.00pm. Councillors from Suffolk County Council (Joanna Spicer) and West Suffolk Council (Andrew Smith) attend the meetings, together with a representative from RAF Honington. A representative from the Police is invited to attend but a report is normal. Parishioners are welcome to attend. The agenda for the meeting is posted in both village notice boards.
The function of the PC is to address any problems identified by parishioners or PC Councillors and to set the Precept for the Parish. To ease the financial burden on parishioners, it is kept to a minimum, commensurate with the planned expenditure. The latest increase for 2023/24 was 1%. The Council Tax paid by occupants of base housing north of Green Lane is credited to the PC, a sum almost equivalent to that from both villages.
If a parishioner has a problem or an issue that needs to be addressed by the PC it should be sent to the Chair or Clerk.
The PC pays for the newsletter, supports the village hall, the church and ground maintenance of areas not the responsibility of Highways. Recently payments included a new village sign for Honington, speed signs for the villages, the RAF on Green Lane, equipment for the playing field and work to address the problem of flooding. Whilst in past seats have been purchased and are maintained, dog and litter bins have been installed, the phone box converted to a library and the ground at the playing field enhanced.
The PC liaises with Highways, through the Suffolk County Councillor to hasten concerns such as bridge repair, pothole repairs, road marking, including yellow lining outside school and road signs.
