Died: 17 October 1940 West Willoughby, Lincolnshire, England His parents returned to Bohemia after his birth. Miloslav became a soldier by profession, he was placed at the rank of Lieutenant in the 102nd Artillery Regiment after graduating from the Military Academy. He left for France after the German occupation in March 1939 via the Balkan route. He was presented to the Czechoslovak Army on 4 March 1940 and took part in the retreat fighting. He was evacuated to England in June; he joined RAF VR and was trained as a radio operator. On 16 October 1940 he participated in his first flight as a member of the crew of the Vickers Wellington Mk.I.c, N2773, KXoK in a raid on Bremen. The aircraft attacked a naval base and docks, results not observed due to low clouds. the radio failed on return, due to the inability to the impossibility of finding the exact position, fog and an unforeseen storm over England, the crew jumped out on parachutes. the crew was saved, only Miloslav Verjrazka died after the jump. His parachute got tangled according to the first version, according to the other he was left hanging caught in a tree and was shot by a HG member who thought he was a German paratrooper for his poor English. |
