Robert Beattie Murgatroyd

Originally from Blackpool Lancashire he was the Pilot of a Wellington bomber from no.9 Squadron RAF flying out of RAF Honington.
On the 6 July 1940 he was injured whilst trying to help get a navigation waypoint for the bomb aimer whilst receiving heavy anti-aircraft flack over the coast of the Netherlands retuning from a raid on Hamburg.
He was hit in the the chest and whilst the aircraft returned and landed safely Robert died from his wounds.
