As you all know, the village newsletter is produced and distributed entirely by volunteers. We are currently looking for someone to distribute the newsletter in Honington on a monthly basis. The area to be covered is from the end of Church Road, up to Sapiston Bridge, including Willow Green, Manor Farm and the barns. If anyone is willing to take this on please contact Caroline Keyton ([email protected]) or Carol King ([email protected]).
FOR THE LOVE OF ART
Well spring is definitely here, lots of beautiful things to paint, also thank you Karen for the amazing pastel demo, everyone enjoyed and learned a lot. Welcome Kath who has joined our Art group, looking forward to our summer trip! More information later, thank you all for your support. Netty Mendez
CAMERA CLUB
Following a very successful talk in March we had two set subjects to tackle for our April meeting, with "technology" and "food" proving to be a thought-provoking challenge, the members were up for it! An excellent range of subject matter represented in some great photographs. Our May 21st meeting has two more challenging subjects "Street Art" and "Perspective". Interested? Then please come along to see the photos and join us for a tea/coffee and a chat at 6.45 for 7pm start in the village hall. Contact Howard for further information [email protected]
CHURCH NEWS
Thank you to everyone who helped make both of our churches look so lovely at Easter and the donated lilies gave every-where such a wonderful perfume. The lucky winners of the April Money Draw were Albert and Molly Lambert, Sally and Tim Fogden and Libby Balaam. Lots of people have asked for a more informal worship tied to our rural setting and in the afternoon, so we will be introducing one at 3.30pm on the first Sunday of every month. Each of these services will be different and may move about the village. A list of future different 3.30pm services are on the church noticeboards. Our service this month, on 5 May, Matthew Hawthorne has kindly offered to take us on a tractor ride. (This one will take about 2 hours.) There are a limited number of seats so please contact Marion Cusworth tel. 269492 should you wish to join us. Our APCM will be held at 7.30pm on Thursday 16 May in the Village Hall. Now that there is a compost area in the churchyard all dead flowers and foliage may be discarded there, but please put any old silk or plastic flowers and wreaths in the normal waste bin. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jacklin family after the death of June Jacklin. Marion Cusworth
BLACKBOURNE TREE GROUP
April tidy up day went well and the next Workday is Saturday 4th May at 9am. Mark will bring strimmers etc. We aim to tidy around the millennium trees as well as the usual path clearance. GS

We are holding the Humber Register Event at Foxborough House on Saturday 4th May and there will be 30 vintage cars coming through the village to us and you are welcome to come and admire! 10 am onwards. GS
HONINGTON & SAPISTON CARPET BOWLS CLUB
Want something to do on a Wednesday evening? Then why not come and play carpet bowls at Honington & Sapiston village hall. We play from 7pm until 9.30pm. Everything is provided, just turn up and play. You will get plenty of friendly advice. We are a very cheerful club. Come and give it a free trial. Normal fee is £3.00 per evening, which includes a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit or two. We will look forward to seeing you. Eric Martin
1ST HONINGTON (RAF) SCOUT GROUP
This month all three sections have celebrated St George’s day on a Sunday afternoon, with our annual district parade in Bury St Edmunds. A beautiful spectacle of flags, Scouts and Guides accompanied by a marching band. Beavers have also been practicing and delivering some maypole dancing at Pakenham watermill, and beginning our gardening badge. Cubs started the term enjoying the lighter evenings with some outdoor games, also looking at road safety and the red six have helped lead the artists’ badge. Scouts enjoyed a survival camp during the Easter holidays, thankfully they all survived! They started the term with a forum to decide what activities they would like to do this term, and enjoyed some outdoor cooking over the fire! Jan Neary [email protected]
PRODUCE STALL FAKENHAM MAGNA
On Saturday 25th May there will be a produce stall outside St Peter’s Church from 10.30 am to 12 noon. We will be selling cakes, jams and preserves. There will also be a variety of vegetable and bedding plants at very reasonable prices. Do come early as we sometimes sell out before noon!
HONINGTON & SAPISTON WI
Tricia told us Molly had been a member of H&S WI for 65 years and presented her with a card and a bouquet, there was also a cake to be shared at refreshment time. Molly has also recently celebrated her 70th wedding anniversary. Double cause for great celebration.
Our speaker, Tanya Fifield, gave her talk on the My Wish charity. The charity raises money for all departments of the WS and Newmarket hospitals to provide equipment "over and beyond" what is provided by the NHS. She told us of the many fundraising events held so they can provide such specialised items as are needed.
