ROWING THE ATLANTIC - MARK JACKLIN
As I write this, on 17th January, Mark and the other three members of the crew, have rowed over two thirds of the way across the Atlantic from The Canary Isles to Antigua, a total of 3,000 miles in an event called ‘The World’s Toughest Row.’
They have encountered many challenges such as seasickness, blisters and sores (on their hands and their bottoms!), a broken water maker, broken auto tiller, storms, heat and lack of sleep. But they have also had some incredible encounters with wales, dolphins, beautiful sunsets and sunrises and some fabulous unpolluted starry skies.
They are estimated to arrive in Antigua on 30th January, some 47 days after they left La Gomera.
To date they have raised nearly £18,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support, The Royal British Legion and The Centurion Fund.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Mark along the way, and for all your kind words.
He is very much looking forward to being back home in Sapiston and has promised he is never going to do it again!

PAST CHARITY FUNDRAISING EVENTS
12 ULTRAMARATHONS in 12 DAYS for TESTICULAR CANCER
Hello, I’m Lindsey Maunder and live in Mill Road, Honington.  Some of you may be aware that our son, Charlie, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in May 2023. Following 12 weeks of chemotherapy and 2 intensive operations, he is thankfully now in remission, and embarked on a remarkable fundraising mission.
In June, he ran a distance of over 700km in 12 days - 12 ultramarathons, from Edinburgh to London, raising money for
the OddBalls Foundation, the UK's leading testicular cancer charity.
OddBall's do fantastic work to raise awareness for the most prevalent form of cancer, with 2,400 new cases every year.
With early detection, it also is one of the most curable forms of cancer, making its awareness vital.
Charlie raised over £31,500 (plus Gift Aid over £5,000)
