The Arts Society Bury St Edmunds is for people who have an interest in and enjoy the decorative visual and performing arts.
It is a member society of The Arts Society, which is the operating name of The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies - NADFAS.
Our objective, through lectures, visits, study days and tours, is to broaden our knowledge and enjoyment of the arts in general.
The core of our activity is a programme of monthly, illustrated lectures given by experts who are chosen for their knowledge, presentational skills and entertainment value. The topics are varied and may include architecture, artists and designers, china, glass, painting, music, furniture, sculpture, jewellery and more, from prehistory to modern times.
We also arrange day visits which may include country houses, exhibitions, gardens and other places of interest. Study days are occasionally organised, which allow subjects of particular interest to be covered in greater depth.
