APRIL
On the run up to Easter, Beavers started their gardeners badge which involved learning about different trees and tools, and have been tasked with looking after 3 different seeds through the summer. They put together some Mother’s Day crafts and some Easter crafts.
The Cubs started their air activities badge and will hopefully be completing it with a field trip next term. They also looked at their naturist badge, identifying different trees and birds, as well as making bird feeders, again with an at home project to be completed. They also put together some Mother’s Day and Easter crafts.
The Scouts started with an evening of skits, which are little 30 second performances with a punch line at the end. They had an air ambulance pilot join them for a talk to discuss his job and the workings of a helicopter. Their lightweight hike next term was finalised and the term was finished with a Patrol Leaders camp where new skills were learnt and old ones were built upon.
All Sections finished with a night of fun and games to bring in the Easter break. We are all looking forward to getting outside more through the summer term.

MARCH
This half term, the Beavers made bird feeders and identified different types of birds. They celebrated Chinese New Year with some crafts, trivia and games. They also had a parliamentary debate, while learning what MPs do. This all put some good work to their challenge activity badges. The Cubs have been busy looking at food groups, what they eat and the journey from field to plate. They also spent time learning about money, exchange rates and how global spending impacts us and wider things. There was also a night on program planning so the Cubs could incorporate what they’d like to do going forward.
The Scouts had the f inal visit to our tree to complete the Green Tree Project which has been running for the past 12 months. They started the plan for their lightweight hike, improving their map skills. There was a fire lighting night with a small fire and snacks, and they built a balsa plane to fly next term. All Sections had the opportunity to go and watch Rapunzel at the Theatre Royal and have enjoyed the District bowling competition for each section. They have all started to set out their personal challenges which is further work toward their challenge badges.
